Aluminum Service Drop Products
Commodity Cables, Inc. announces a new product line of aluminum overhead and underground electric power transmission cables.
AAC - The Overhead Transmission cables will include All Aluminum Conductor (AAC); Classes AA and A are used primarily for overhead transmission and primary and secondary distribution. Classes AA and A maintain ampacity with a lighter conductor (compared to ACSR), when conductor strength is not a design requirement. Classes B and C are used primarily where increased flexibility is desired.
AAAC - All Aluminum-Alloy Conductor (AAAC) is used as a bare overhead conductor for primary and secondary distribution. 6201-T81 Alloy Conductors utilize a high-strength Aluminum-Alloy to achieve a strength-to-weight ratio offering better sag properties. Aluminum-Alloys give AAAC better resistance to corrosion than ACSR.
ACSR - Aluminum Conductor Steel Reinforced (ACSR) cables are primarily used as overhead transmission cable and as primary and secondary distribution cable with messenger support. ACSR offers excellent strength for transmission line design while multiple steel core stranding enables designed strength to be met without sacrificing ampacity.
URD/SERVICE DROP - The Underground Distribution (UD) or (URD) and Overhead Service Drop cables are used for secondary distribution and underground service at 600 volts or less, either in direct burial or in ducted installations.
