Copper Building Wire and Low-Voltage Cable Stocked And Ready To Ship

The copper schedule on a commercial job pulls from two sides. Building wire delivers the power with VNTC for tray and exposed runs and MC Copper for feeder and branch circuits.

Low-voltage cable handles the signal layer with category cable, coax, control, fire alarm, security, speaker, thermostat, and bundled runs that connect and secure the building. Commodity Cables stocks both sides of the copper catalog so a distributor can source the full pull on one PO.

Since 2001, Commodity Cables has manufactured and distributed wire and cable to partners across the country, with 11 warehouse locations and same-day shipping on in-stock orders placed by 2:30 PM.

Every product page carries an ungated, downloadable spec sheet, and our sales team is readily available to answer your questions from our US offices.

Building Wire for Power Distribution

Cable Family What We Stock Common Use
VNTC-ER 600V TC-ER tray cable, THWN-2 copper, 14 AWG to 6 AWG, 3/C and 4/C with ground Tray cable, exposed runs, direct burial, wet or dry locations
MV-105 (15kV) 15kV MV-105, 133% insulation, EPR, copper tape shield, 2 AWG to 1500 MCM Medium-voltage power distribution, feeder and branch
circuits
MV-105 (35kV) 35kV MV-105, 133% insulation, EPR, copper tape shield, 1/0 AWG to 1500 MCM Medium-voltage power transmission and distribution
MC Copper Metal-Clad cable with copper conductors Feeder and branch circuit wiring per NEC

The power side of the copper catalog carries line voltage from service equipment through panelboards to branch circuits and fixed gear. VNTC-ER is a 600V TC-ER tray cable with THWN-2 copper conductors and a PVC jacket, rated for cable tray, exposed runs, and direct burial in wet or dry locations. Stocked sizes run from 14 AWG through 6 AWG in 3-conductor and 4-conductor configurations with ground, compliant with UL 83, UL 1277, and FT4 flame test requirements.

MV-105 medium-voltage cable covers the high side of the copper power catalog. 15kV MV-105 uses EPR insulation at 133% insulation level with copper tape shield and ez-Pull PVC jacket, rated for continuous operation at 105C with emergency overload to 140C and short circuit rating to 250C. Stocked from 2 AWG through 1500 MCM in 1-core and 3-core configurations, compliant with UL 1072 and ICEA S-93-639. 35kV MV-105 shares the same construction and standards at 35kV, stocked from 1/0 AWG through 1500 MCM. Both are suited for wet and dry areas, conduits, ducts, direct burial, and tray installations.

MC Copper is a factory-assembled cable with copper conductors and interlocked armor, handling feeder and branch circuit wiring in commercial and industrial buildings per NEC Article 330.

Category Cable for Network and Data Infrastructure

Category cable is the backbone of structured network wiring, and Commodity Cables stocks Cat 5E, Cat 6, and Cat 6A in the constructions distributors need most. Every category is available shielded (F/UTP with aluminum mylar foil) and unshielded (U/UTP), in both riser (CMR) and plenum (CMP) ratings.

  • Cat 5E Riser (24 AWG, tested to 350 MHz, 1000Base-T, PoE+)
  • Cat 6 Riser (23 AWG, tested to 600 MHz, 1000Base-T, PoE+, cross separator design)
  • Cat 6A Riser (23 AWG, tested to 500 MHz, 10GBase-T, internal spline separator)

Each category is available in 10 standard jacket colors: blue, white, gray, black, red, green, yellow, orange, purple, and pink. Custom colors are available per customer request. All cable is solid bare copper with sequential footage markings, compliant with ANSI/TIA 568-C.2 and ANSI/TIA 862 for building automation. Riser and Plenum — Stocked and Verified, Not Backordered

Riser and plenum both live in the same warehouse, same catalog, and same ship schedule. Commodity Cables stocks both CMR and CMP jacket ratings across every copper and low-voltage family in this catalog, plus outdoor and water-blocked coax variants. Every SKU ships with a downloadable spec sheet confirming jacket listing, AWG, conductor count, and code compliance. The quote team verifies availability before the PO drops, so split orders and inspection holds don’t eat into the margin.

RG6, RG59, and RG11 Coax Compared

RG6 coax cable is the workhorse for broadband, satellite, and CCTV runs, and RG6 quad shield steps in where interference is heavy. RG59 fits short analog video runs, and RG11 carries long runs with lower signal loss. We stock riser, plenum, and outdoor builds across all four, including outdoor water-blocked variants.)

How to Spec and Order Low-Voltage Cable

  • Gauge and conductor count for the circuit
  • Shielded or unshielded for the environment
  • Jacket rating: riser, plenum, or outdoor
  • Footage per box or reel so the order covers the pull

Every product page has a downloadable spec sheet, so the crew can verify before the PO goes in.
